A 6-7 day horseback journey from Magraneti to Omalo in the Tusheti region, covering approximately 150 kilometers through some of the most spectacular landscapes of the Caucasus.

The route passes the Sioni Reservoir and follows the Caucasus mountain range, riding beneath impressive peaks such as Borbalo, Lagai Mountain, and Korsa. Each day includes around 5-6 hours of riding, with regular breaks along the way.

Evenings are spent camping on high mountain slopes above the clouds, surrounded by untouched nature and panoramic views. During the journey, we pass through some of the oldest and most beautiful villages of Tusheti, experiencing authentic mountain culture and traditions.

The journey concludes in the village of Omalo, from where transfer back to the starting location is arranged for the group.

Day 1

The journey begins in the village of Magraneti, where we start riding across the wide open landscapes of Ertso Valley. Following the scenic coastline of Sioni Lake, the trail offers beautiful views of water and surrounding mountains. In the evening, we arrive at the village of Artani, where we set up camp for our first night.

Day 2

Departing from Artani, we continue along the Iori River valley, gradually ascending toward the mountains. The route passes through peaceful natural surroundings and traditional rural landscapes before reaching Nasoflari, where we stay overnight.

Day 3

Following mountain trails, we reach the area near Masara Mountain, where we camp in a quiet alpine setting with wide panoramic views.

Day 4

Crossing Iron Mountain, we follow historic mountain trails and descend to the headwaters of the Alazani River. Here, a guest shelter is available, although we may also choose to camp in tents depending on conditions and group preference.

Day 5

Riding along the banks of the Alazani River, we continue our journey toward the village of Laliskuri, where we arrive by the end of the day.

Day 6

Following a mountain road, we pass through the historic villages of Tusheti before arriving in Omalo, where we stay overnight in a hotel or guesthouse.

Day 7

Our driver ensures a comfortable transfer from Tusheti back to Tbilisi, marking the end of the journey.


Frequently asked questions

What should I bring?

Please bring comfortable clothes, closed shoes, water, and a phone or camera for photos. In sunny weather, we recommend sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat.

Do I need horse riding experience?

No experience is needed. Our tours are beginner-friendly, and our guide will explain everything before the ride.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is not safe for riding, we may reschedule the tour or offer another available time.
